Just like they do on piano, guitar, etc. :-)

Using valves, I have three-plus chromatic octaves (I can bend 1B down to
around Bb or A). Just as we bend notes and alter modes for G and D, it is
possible to play any series of notes that lie within the three-plus
octaves of the valved C diatonic.

BTW, before I used valves, I played a lot in 4th position (Am), and a few
tunes in 5th (Em) and 6th (Bm) positions, and even a few in 12th. I'm
quite surprised that 4th position diatonic isn't a LOT more popular. I
like it a lot, and so do my audiences. It's great in the middle and upper
sections, and with a well controlled 3Dbb it's great all the way down the
