There may also be some effect from the reed material. I used to play a
standard Honer Chromonica 64 and once a year played with a jazz/pop
band for a public gig. And once a year had to replaced one or two
reeds which hardened during the gig and went way out of tune. One even
cracked in half.

I was persuaded to invest in a Chromonica made specially for Toots
Thielemans, as the reeds were of different material and more robust.
It does also seem slightly easier to bend (though nothing like my
Marine Band which I reckon you could play a whole octave on one reed).

Someone more experienced than I may like to comment.

Buy the Book!

I cleaned up my tab for Sonny Boy's Help Me and made it into a short book. There's a Kindle version for 99 cents, and if you buy the paperback you get the Kindle free.

I also write Science Fiction, so you can sample some of my best stories. Also available in Kindle format.

I began collecting data about the microphones used by blue harp players before there was an internet. I began organizing it into JT30.com in the late 1990s. I accumulated more stuff than I remember. This is some of it.
