Subject: Hohner Blues Blaster Microphone

Harpists one and harpists all,

A bit of a purchasing dilemma (hate 'em). Here I am in England, as
always, and I ain't got a harp mike. What's more, I'd like one. But, as
is always the way, the only one I can get hold of is a Hohner Blues
Blaster (think that's right). It's about 100 pounds over here, i.e.
about $150 in greenies (but before you shout back saying how expensive
that is, yes, I know, but everything is more expensive over here than it
is with you, OK?). Now I've heard that it's not worth having, and it's
better to pay twice as much and get a mike which will last for ever. That
is, a Shure or an Astatic or whatever (those two names being ones I've
picked up from this list, I have little idea how much they are, where I
can get them from etc etc) but tragically I am a student with less money
in his pocket than a particularly poor and philanthropic pauper with
noticeably small pockets. So, is it as bad as all that, or is it OK for
the price you pay - if not, which models could you suggest (and if you
could give me an idea of the price, in your foreign denominations would
be OK :-) ?

Many thanks one and all,

Ben Board

I began collecting data about the microphones used by blue harp players before there was an internet. I began organizing it into in the late 1990s. I accumulated more stuff than I remember. This is some of it.
