James Cotton does two versions of a song called "Mississippi Freight
Train" on
his latest CD (I forget what the CD called). The "whistle" is just 345
draw,
starting bent and going up to the unbent position while doing a hand
Wah-Wah.
The sound of the train running starts with a rapid slide from the 4 draw
to the
3 draw, to the 2 draw flattened, and then play the 234 draw, 345 blow,
234 draw,
back to the slide, repeat for a while, then do the whistle again. At least
this
is as much as I fugured out listening to James Cotton. He also does
some
noodling around with variations on the blow/draw pattern, but you'll have
to get
the CD if you want to try to figure them out.

Another easy train sound uses the 1-4 draw and 1-4 blow. Start on the
1-4 draw
saying "OOOOO-Waka", then go to the 1-4 blow and say
"Taka-taka-tak", then back
to the 1-4 draw OOOO-waka, etc.

I'm not sure if either of these are the train sounds used in "Crossroads",
but
I'll probably rent it soon to check it out. If its different and I figure it

out I'll drop you a line on it.

Train sounds are one of the easier harp tricks, and, like most siple tricks,
people I've played it to have been pretty impressed. If anyone else
sends you
ideas on how to do train sounds, please forward them to me, as I
wouldn't mind
adding a few to my bag of tricks.
