Good call. Yeah, I give it a go now and then. I -- like you
it seems -- enjoy playing harp in many styles. Whoa, now --
I'm no virtuoso, just into it. Country stylings can be a
helluvalotta fun.

Charlie McCoy is the King (of country harp). There, I didn't
even say "IMHO". He's probably played harp on more recordings
than anyone ever. My understanding is that for 20-25 years, he
was THE session man in Nashville. He played harp for
everybody. And, it was not because he was the only player in
town. Listen to his playing and you are well on your way.

BTW, I am continuously perplexed as to why he is not mentioned
more frequently on Harp-L.

Also, I really enjoy listening to Mickey Raphael's playing.
Tasty, tasty stuff. You can check him out on many of Willie
Nelson's albums.

As for the newer country harpers, I'm curious too. Who are
they? I know Clint Black plays some (but I've been around
Harp-L long enough to know better than to mention his name --
insert smiley thing here).

I cleaned up my tab for Sonny Boy's Help Me and made it into a short book. There's a Kindle version for 99 cents, and if you buy the paperback you get the Kindle free.

I also write Science Fiction, so you can sample some of my best stories. Also available in Kindle format.

I began collecting data about the microphones used by blue harp players before there was an internet. I began organizing it into JT30.com in the late 1990s. I accumulated more stuff than I remember. This is some of it.
