Subject: DC Blues society jam

Thanks to veryone for a very spirited discussion on John Popper, a
discussion so spirited I won't even throw in my $.02.

I got a chance to see most of the D.C. Blues Society jam this week, and
there was some terrific blues going on. Harp-l guy Steve Levine played some
great country blues harp, doing several acoustic sets. Ron (or roy)
Carrier, a Louisiana based Zydeco band played a four song set that had people
dancin' and carryin' on; they did some great Zydeco blues. Anyone out
there play Zydeco Harp? I've never heard it but it would be interesting.

Also, I got the chance to hear harp-ler Lil Annie Raines play. She did a
four song, mixed acoustic electric set. Unfortunately, the ectric number
was marred by sound problems, but. . . Wow, that girl can blow! She and
her guitarist (whose name escapes me but is very talented as well) did a
Sonny Boy Williamson tune that was absolutely incredible. Her tone and
technique were superb. She can certainly back up her posts, and I'd like
to see her do a full set.

To any of the other new guys out there, Nothing inspires like seeing
someone play live. You can check out their equipment, spy on technique,
etc. If there's a harpist coming near you. . . you owe it to yourself
(and some of our harp-lers--Lil annie) to check them out.
Thanks all,
- -Mike

Buy the Book!

I cleaned up my tab for Sonny Boy's Help Me and made it into a short book. There's a Kindle version for 99 cents, and if you buy the paperback you get the Kindle free.

I also write Science Fiction, so you can sample some of my best stories. Also available in Kindle format.
