Dan,

A 1941 JT-30 would have said Model 30. I have a brown one from that time that was used by the Military. The company name isn't Astatic Corporation, but Astatic Labs. This is before they moved to Connaut Ohio. At the time the military mics were brown and the others were gray or gray Hammertone. The military mics did not have a chrome grill.

Nice find! The older ones are worth more than $150 in good condition, but they rarely are in good condition. I don't like to modify the older ones - it seems a shame to mess with them when they are so old and the new ones are easy to find.

Find one of the old Astatic mic stands on Ebay and put it on your shelf as a presentation piece. I might strip the paint and sand it a little to get rid of the dings and then repaint it the same color. The JT-30 grill is a work of art and they look like a little modern art sculpture when you mount them.
