Fender Amp Date Codes

Fender amps can be dated by a rubber stamp on the Tube chart. Some Speakers have a similar rubber stamp. What you are looking for is 2 letters which indicate the month and the year that the amp was manufactured.

Jenson Speaker Date Codes

Early Fender amps up to the 60's had "Blue-Cap" Jenson Speakers. There is often a 6 digit code code stamped on the edge of the speaker which will help identify the age of the speaker and the age of the amp. Since Speakers are often replaced as the old ones are blown out by Harmonica players and Jimmy Hendrix fans there is no way of being sure that the date on the speaker is the date of the amp. It is, however, a good indication. Since the decade is not indicated in the number it can be 1940, 1950 or 1960. You have to guess by using the date of the amp or by the condition of the speaker.
