Sabine FBX Solo 620-SL Feedback Exterminator
Here is an interesting discussion of the Sabine feedback eliminator.

I almost bought one of these and now I'm glad that I didn't.

Kansas City Harp Seminar
If you out near Shawnee Kansas Tuesday, May 6, stop by the Mountain Music Shoppe for Tulsa Read's Americana Harmonica Seminar. It looks like it will be a blast.

Check out Tulsa Read's Website - He plays through a T-3.

Adam Gussow Blues Harmonica Jam Tracks
Adam Gussow (of Satan and Adam) is a local boy who made good. He grew up a few blocks from me.

He promised to tell me when ever he had any new stuff available. He's just let me know that he's experimenting with selling a whole pack of jam tracks in one zip.

He's charging only $8 for 47 minutes so it seems like a bargain.

Pay the money, download it and then load it on your iPod.

This is the harmonica lesson of the future!

This is from the liner notes:
What will you find in this collection of jam tracks? Charlie and I knew that Vol. 1 needed to give developing harp players some basic tools of the trade, Common-stock tunes and grooves that show up repeatedly when you're making your way in the blues world. Shuffles, slow blues, two-beat stomps, plus an 8-bar blues and a swingy blues with a straight-four feel. Nothing fancy. (Actually, Messin With the Kid is a little fancy. Don't mess with it until you're ready!) When Charlie and I play gigs, most of these songs are part of our set list.

History of Chicago Blues Audio Tour
I just noticed this link on the CityofChicago.org website.

Buddy Guy narrates and audio tour of Chicago. It has some nice Muddy, Howlin Wolf and harp players like Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson.

Fix for a Linear taper Pot
I wrote a little description of a common fix to make linear taper pots function better as volume controls. Audio taper pots are hard to find, especially in the small military pots that I use. I've been adding a resistor to the circuit and it makes the volume control a little better behaved.

History of this page.

In the dawn of the World Wide Web (1994), Keith Graham created the JT30 page. It started out as a home page for modifying JT30 microphones. Eventually the page became a catchall for microphones and amplified harmonica playing. You can see these pages at: The Original JT30 Page

Now I have three pages for harp mics, harp tab and harp amps. I'm going to start another one just for learning harp.

The Cable Channel CNBC had a small article on collecting vintage microphones on 3/28.
Microphone Techs! Here is a nice article out of Circuit Cellar Magazine on the D-104, the older brother of the JT-30. It has a great discussion on crystal mics and how they match to modern equipment. There is a project on how to rig up a little op amp matching circuit.

If you haven't been checking out BassHarps Gig list, then you are missing out on great harp playing. If you are gigging and not on the list then you are probably playing to a half empty house.
There is a Jam Session FAQ on the Internet. Some of it is old and is missing some of the best blues Jams, but it may be useful for finding a local jam. Another more recent jam list is at the National Blues Pages.
