Microphone Replacement Elements
Item Description Quantity Price Cost
Genuine Astatic Crystal Element!!! This is the original Astatic MC-151 element. I am selling a small number of them now. These are authentic MC-151 made by Astatic. Each element is tested before shipping. These fit most bullet style mics including JT-30, T-3, Astatic 200, Shure 707, Shure 520, Turners, American, and similar mics. Some mics require that you trim the rubber gasket or order a specialty gasket from www.harpmicgaskets.com. The back of the element has MC-127 cast into the casing, but Astatic broke the 151 mould so they use the 127 one. There is a paper label with MC-151 on it. No returns after 2 weeks. No returns of soldered elements. I will issue credit only, up to 14 days after purchase if returned element has not been soldered. $ 150.00
Astatic Ceramic Element 1-15/16 inch diameter ceramic element made by Astatic for a CB mic in the 1970s. Made from the same element materials as an MC-127 and sounds very much like the MC-127 and MC-151. It is smaller than the JT-30 element, but you can easily make a mount out of plastic foam packing material that will hold it centered and secure. Very high impedence and very rugged. $ 16.00
Impedance Matching transformer Small transformer fits in almost any mic. Multiplies impedance by 100. Turns a 300 ohm element into 30,000 ohms. Red and green side is high impedance. Green and white wires attach directly to element. Boosts bass response and increases output of weak elements. $ 12.00
Low Impedance Element Low impedance military surplus element. Similar to Shure CR. Might be Shure or EV. Will sound OK with impedance matching transformer above. $ 4.00

JT-30 Parts

1-meg Military Spec Pot I use these milspec pots when I add a volume control to a mic. They are small enough to fit in almost any microphone and were designed to work, even in the jungles of southeast asia, so they might survive a blues bar. They are 1 meg linear taper and work great with a high impedance element. The shaft is too long and you might have to nip it down to size after you install it. Includes a 1/8 inch shaft knob with a set screw. $ 12.00
JT-30 screws 4-40 by 3/8 replacement screws. Zinc plated. You can get these at any hardware store but for convenience you can add them to your order. Two included. 2 for $1.00 $ 1.00

XLR Microphone adapter for high impedance microphones. Lets you use a standard guitar cord with a newer JT-30. This does not have the matching transformer and is designed for use with High Impedance microphones like the JT-30VC. This eliminates the need for a special cable and allows you to use your JT-30 with a normal Guitar cord.

Microphone adapter for old microphones. Lets you use a standard guitar cord with a JT-30. This is the Switchcraft connector
2501MP Switchcraft connector. This is the amphenol type connector that goes on the bottom of old microphones. It has a 3/8 inch threaded connector which fits (loosely) in the JT-30 shell sold here. If you buy this for the shell, you must drill a tap a hole for a set screw to hold it in place in the shell.
2501F cable connector for making your own guitar cords. This is cheaper than the Switchcraft adapter (but not so cool) Steal a guitar cord from one of the guitar players, cut one end off and solder one of these in place and you get a dedicated microphone cord.
