I found these YouTube vids of customized harp mics. I may not be able exactly define pornography, but I know it when I see it.

Lightweight Microphones

Chris Reynolds is making a plastic mic shell based on the Shure 520 bullet. It weighs just 5.4 ounces. This is a good idea and I think I might order one.

This is something I wanted to do for the Brown Biscuit. I like the smaller form factor of the biscuit. It is smaller and easier to cup, and I think would be a great addition to Chris’s line.

I am a little concerned that Chris might get in trouble with Shure from cloning a mic that is still in production. The original patent, though, expired many years ago, so he is probably in the clear.

How to Practice Harp

I talk to lots of harp players. I like to ask about how they learned to play harp. Everyone does it differently, but some approaches work better than others.

I’ve taken some of these ideas and made a list things that might help you practice or make your practicing more effective.

I left one out, though: Rule 1 – You have to practice. I guess some harp players don’t think that they ever have to practice, but then, we can tell who they are.
