Garage Sale
I have two one mics for sale.

Bushman Torpedo Mic

First is a customized Bushman/Nady Torpedo harp mic. I bought a new Bushman Torpedo Harmonica Microphone From Coast2CoastMusic. The mic, as I received it, was not good for tube amps without an impedance transformer and it has a clunky XLR connector.

I decided to customize the mic and turn it into a real Harp Mic. I took the mic apart. removed the vocal element, and put a New-Old-Stock Atatic MC-151 crystal element in it. I pulled the XLR connector and rewired it to an integrated 1/4 inch guitar style jack so you can use any standard guitar cord without an adapter.

The mic is made from stainless steel and is just slightly smaller than a JT-30. ( I had to trim the MC-151 rubber gaskette.) The Torpedo has a very cool design. It weighs slightly less than a JT-30, but it feels like one in your hands.

The element is a nice one and has that classic JT-30 sound. The element is from a batch that I bought back in 2001 while Astatic was still making them and is a good solid and loud element.

I am including the cool little mic stand adapter that comes with the Torpedo.

Price $229 which includes shipping in the USA. I will ship to Europe, but buyer pays shipping and insurance. Contact Erica to arrange PayPal payment ecgraham@aol.com

Harley Mic SOLD

I built another Harley Mic.These are made out of motorcycle tail lights. I take out the lamp and lense, put a grill and element and add the pot and jack. This is a nice budget mic with a very hot new Hohner Blues Blaster crystal element (Japanese).

It has a 1 meg pot volume control and a 1/4 inch jack for guitar cord built in.

It is very light and slightly smaller than a JT-30.

The price is $89.95 SOLD and I'll ship free in the USA. Contact me for overseas shipping rates.

History of this page.

In the dawn of the World Wide Web (1994), Keith Graham created the JT30 page. It started out as a home page for modifying JT30 microphones. Eventually the page became a catchall for microphones and amplified harmonica playing. You can see these pages at: The Original JT30 Page

Now I have three pages for harp mics, harp tab and harp amps. I'm going to start another one just for learning harp.

The Cable Channel CNBC had a small article on collecting vintage microphones on 3/28.
Microphone Techs! Here is a nice article out of Circuit Cellar Magazine on the D-104, the older brother of the JT-30. It has a great discussion on crystal mics and how they match to modern equipment. There is a project on how to rig up a little op amp matching circuit.

If you haven't been checking out BassHarps Gig list, then you are missing out on great harp playing. If you are gigging and not on the list then you are probably playing to a half empty house.
There is a Jam Session FAQ on the Internet. Some of it is old and is missing some of the best blues Jams, but it may be useful for finding a local jam. Another more recent jam list is at the National Blues Pages.
